The Ukrainian international Mykhaylo Mudryk (24) was charged by the English Football Association FA for a possible doping violation.
This latest step brings the professional from the English Premier League club FC Chelsea closer to a lock if the allegations are confirmed. However, a lock would only take place after a hearing.
As the association announced, Mudryk “ownership and/or the use of a forbidden substance” are accused. “Since it is an ongoing procedure, we can currently not comment on this,” said the AP news agency in a communication from the FA in an email.
Mudryk already assured innocence
Previously, FC Chelsea had already announced last year that Mudryk had “categorically assured that it had never recognized knowingly forbidden substances”. The Ukrainian, who is currently closed, and the club would now also work with the responsible authorities “to clarify the cause of the striking finding”.
Chelsea signed top talent Mudryk in January 2023 for a transfer fee of up to 100 million euros from Schachtar Donetsk. The Ukrainians should therefore receive 70 million euros and 30 million euros of possible bonus payments. The 24-year-old’s contract in London runs until summer 2031.
