“It gives a lot of self -confidence, a lot of self -confidence that I can really use. I am not really confident of myself,” says painter after another punch of more than 20 meters.
In March, painter became European shot put in Apeldoorn in front of King Willem-Alexander. At the big tournaments, Schilder already managed to catch a number of medals and that does a lot with her status. “If I’m very tired and I come across someone, I really have to charge myself. Then the hat really goes on.”
Painter thinks it is great that there is attention for her performance. Many children want a signature or a photo of her around competitions. “That is very nice and I find very cute”, but sometimes she is ‘just tired’.
Volendam
Strikingly enough, painter has not been to Volendam since her gold medal in Apeldoorn. She has been living at Papendal near Arnhem for a number of years to fully focus on top sport. “I have seen my parents and my brother.”
“I think once I get to Volendam, it can get fierce. I postpone that after the World Cup in Tokyo. I think I have to go there in the winter. Then I can handle three double layers, haha!”
