After David Solk and Irmi Kreuzer developed millions of shoes for global brands such as Adidas, on Running, Helly Hansen and Zara, they decided to found their own brand and combine comfort, style and responsibility.
On the Global Fashion Summit, which also dealt with the rights of nature, they presented their first model, the sneaker “Fade 101”, which is durable and compostable.
“We have developed shoes for other brands for decades. Now we have our own product, as we always wanted: one that feels great and leaves nothing harmful,” comments Solk in a message.
According to the Swiss brand, all components of the “Fade 101” were developed according to strict criteria, since they must be completely harmless at the end of product life for people and the environment. The choice fell on chrome -free leather (“by responsible European cattle”), a 100 percent bio -based and seamlessly knitted inner lining that avoids textile waste, ligament, tencel and yarn as well as a sole of pure natural rubber and compostable foam.
“Every fiber, every seam, every choice of materials, design and production as well as the end of-life solution were chosen for one purpose: no damage to cause,” said Solk.

However, the choice of the upper material, leather, is surprising, since leather needs 50 years or more before it is decomposed; Most natural fibers such as cotton (a few months) or wool (about 4 years) are much faster.
The leather cut is AI-controlled to reduce blends and takes place on machines specially converted for SOLK.
At the end of the product life, Solk takes back disused sneakers and transforms them into compost in the in -house composting system. All materials were previously checked for over 200 potentially dangerous substances and tested for their plant compatibility according to the compost.

It is manufactured in your own factory in Vietnam. This keeps the brand control over materials, methods and fair working conditions.
The “Fade 101” is available in four colors – Ivory, Black, Sand and Ember – and costs around 250 euros. The sneaker can now be pre -ordered on the brand’s website. The delivery should take place in October.
