Germany’s tennis ace Alexander Zverev was able to collect new confidence on the way to Wimbledon despite the final defeat in Stuttgart.
Alexander Zverev lost 3: 6, 6: 7 (0: 7) against his fear opponent Taylor Fritz in the final of Stuttgart. The Hamburger must continue to wait for its first title for lawn. And yet the 28-year-old fueled fresh self-confidence two weeks before Wimbledon.
“I got everything out of the week,” Zverev was satisfied with his performance at the ATP tournament in Stuttgart.
“Don’t worry, I’ll win Wimbledon”
“Sascha, Wimbledon!” A fan called at the subsequent award ceremony. The response from the German tennis star: “Don’t worry, I’ll win Wimbledon.” At the press conference, Zverev was asked about his pithy statement. The right -hander confirmed: “Why not?”
At the classic lawn in London, Zverev wants to meet Fritz. “I have something of enough, stay away from me. Please don’t come to Germany for the next two or three years,” joked the world number in the world.
Zverev had to surrender to Fritz in his last five duels – including last year in Wimbledon.
Zverev completes general rehearsal in Halle
This week, Zverev still competes in Halle/Westphalia and continues to get in shape for the third Grand Slam tournament in the calendar. The American Marcos Giron is waiting for the start.
The 2021 tennis Olympic champion had not always felt comfortable in the past on lawn. Zverev played a final on the fast underground in Stuttgart for the first time in Halle in 2017. For Fritz, on the other hand, it was the fourth title on lawn. The Zverev frightener has been in fourth position in the tennis world rankings since Monday.
