The lifeless body of a 39-year-old Pole from Avelgem was found on Wednesday evening 4 June in Sint-Baafs-Vijve, a part of Wielsbeke. The victim was in the garden of an apartment building. The first findings showed that the man had been violently robbed of life.
Shortly after the body’s discovery, two residents of the building were arrested. After interrogation, the 39-year-old man and his 46-year-old partner were brought before the Kortrijk investigating judge. He decided to keep both poles on suspicion of murder. The council chamber in Kortrijk ruled on Wednesday that both suspects in the interest of the investigation should stay in prison for a month longer. According to their lawyers, the couple denies any involvement in the death of the victim.
