With Hans-Peter Villis and Andreas Luthe in the Presidium, VfL Bochum wants to go back to the Bundesliga. The “Team Future” for the former goalkeeper Luthe received 1,234 votes of the 1,968 voting members at the extraordinary general meeting of the relegation in Vonovia Ruhrstadion. The competition of “We for VfL” with Uwe Tigges, Karl-Heinz Bauer, Thomas Ernst, Martin Volpers and Mirja Dorny came up with 671 voices.
The new election had been set up in connection with the dismissal of long -standing President Villi. Trust for constructive cooperation under his leadership is no longer guaranteed, it said in January. Now Villis has been elected to the Presidium again. Anyone who ultimately becomes the new president is still decided within the team. In addition to Luthe and Villis, candidates are the team members Till Grönemeyer, Christian Stenneken and Bettina Stratmann.
“The last few weeks have been very intensive, as a team we put a lot of work into our candidacy, controversially discussed, but with joy and on a common basis of trust. Our attitude was that we want to look ahead and make this election day positively. Therefore I am primarily relieved that we have a result and know how it will go on. I am pleased that we can start on Monday. We have developed an internal ‘Roadmap 2029’. There are concrete measures that we want to implement.
