As expected, Charles Leclerc cannot take part in the second free training at the Grand Prix of Canada.
As his team Ferrari announced late Friday evening (MESZ), the Monegasse “had to take a break due to the damage to his car, which he suffered in the first free training in the accident”. The chassis must be replaced on its SF-25. But his car should be ready for use for the last exercise rounds (6 p.m./Sky) and qualifying on Saturday (10 p.m./RTL and Sky).
In the first session, Leclerc was scratched along the tire stacks after almost 15 minutes with the left side of his Ferrari after a braking in the third curve. The 27-year-old destroyed his car, a red flag followed.
“I should have just driven straight – excused,” he sparked to team boss Fred Vasseur and his engineers at the pit wall. In theory, Leclerc could have switched to an outlet zone, but apparently hoped to get the curve.
