The German basketball players had to accept a violent test game defeat a week before the home European Championship.
The team of trainer Lisa Thomaidis clearly lost in the evening in Löwen (Belgium) with 45:80 (21:38) against co -favorite Belgium. The numerous failures of the key players Satou Sabally, Nyara Sabally and Marie Gülich were clearly noticeable. The German team had no chance.
The two USA legionnaires Leonie Fiebich and Luisa Geiselsöder have not yet joined the team. The best thrower in the Thomaidis team was Clara Bielefeld with ten points. On Saturday (8:15 p.m.) there is another test game against the strong Belgians in Oostend.
The German team contested the preliminary round in Hamburg from June 19 to 22 June against Sweden, Spain and Great Britain. Then the final round takes place in Piraeus. In order to be there in Greece, Germany has to take one of the first two places in the group.
