For months, FC Bayern intensively campaigned for desired players Florian Wirtz, but finally caught a basket from the German international. Now the Munich sports director Max Eberl has made a look at the poker around the still Leverkusener.
“I don’t even know if we could have paid this price that Liverpool now apparently had to pay,” said Max Eberl in the team quarters of FC Bayern in Orlando. There the German record champion is preparing for the club World Cup.
FC Liverpool will probably have to transfer up to 150 million euros to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. After many talks, the 22-year-old decided against Bayern and the English champion.
“It was clear that the whole club communicated that the player is outstanding. And that we could have imagined very well that he switched to Bayern,” said Eberl. “Now he has decided differently, even though the conversations were very good.”
