Jean Zimmer (31) takes off from the large football stage, but is still preserved for the 1st FC Kaiserslautern. The long -time captain moves to the U21 as a leading player, which recently pulled the shorter one in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Südwest. At the same time, the right -back, who completed 17 games in the past season, will gain initial experiences in sporting topics away from the square.

Zimmer switched to the Red Devils at the age of ten, where he rose to the professionals in 2013. After leaving the FCK towards VfB Stuttgart in 2016, he returned to his youth club via Fortuna Düsseldorf in early 2021. He played 189 games (seven goals) for the Lauterer professionals.

“I have been intensively concerned with how things can go on for me for the past few weeks – and also offers from other clubs well. For me, it is clear: I want to carry no other jersey than that of the FCK. That is why I decided to end my active professional career and face new challenges in the club,” said Zimmer. “For me it goes back where it all started: to the young performance center. After twelve years as a professional, this decision is certainly difficult for every footballer-and for outsiders it can also look incomprehensible for a 31-year-old. But: If I can help the association in a different position, I will do everything possible to fulfill them as best as possible. I look forward to getting an insight into the coaching and sports management-and parallel U21 to play.

Sports director Marcel Klos added: “In the past two decades, Jean has done a lot for the 1. FC Kaiserslautern and we are therefore very happy that we can continue to integrate it into the club. We have found a solution together that has special added value for both sides: Jean can now play a sporty role in the U21 and at the same time collect impressions at the FCK Develop the future. “
