Today, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has 29 separate digital permits (DAB-only) Auctioned for regional (non-national) commercial radio stations. These are divided for a total amount of € 105,000. At the end of May, 10 different parties were already available 27 packages for a total of € 5.56 million to broadcast on DAB and FM with regional commercial radio stations from 1 September 2025 to 2035.
A total of 44 separate digital regional permits were available today. These are so-called DAB-only-Permits that were left for non-national commercial use after the auction of the packages at the end of May (FM and DAB). 29 of the 44 digital permits are forgiven in this auction. The residual space (15 permits) may use the parties until the Ministry of Economic Affairs (EZ) has made a decision or that can be spent again through, for example, an auction.
The regional DAB-only permits are forgiven to: Radio JND, Radio Simone, 4ever49 Media, Regional Radio Frequency, Stichting Gigant FM, GLXY Radio, Blended Broken BeatsRadio Team, Landmark DevelopmentRadio Limburg 97FM, Radio BNT, Tida and the Radika Foundation.
EZ auctions radio frequencies if there is more supply than supply. In this way, both existing parties and interested newcomers get an equal chance to get a place in the market. The National Inspectorate for Digital Infrastructure (RDI) carries out the auction on behalf of the Ministry. In 2023, the national commercial radio permits were auctioned by EZ.
