Why does Greenland want to play in Concacaf and not in Europe?
Are there purely geographical reasons?
Since they are associated with Denmark, Europe would also be close.
I was also interested in the first question. Several sources, including the BBC, write the UEFA only associations if the countries are recognized by the UN. However, this has to be a more recent rule, in principle the same applies to the Faröer Islands as for Greenland, which are also a Danish territory with just over 50k inhabitants.
This is not a problem in Concacaf, there are 16 out of 41 members not sovereign states but, for example, French overseas areas and some are not FIFA members. That is why there are only 32 Concacaf WM qualification participants.
Logistically, it would probably be quite a challenge for the Caribbean teams to come to Nuuk, where there is apparently no stadium in which international matches could be held and you could only play in summer anyway.
Although Greenland not the first Concacaf Land would not be able to play his home games at home. The Bahamas or currently also play Haiti “at home” where they compete in the same international play window.
