According to a media report, FC Bayern has strengthened BVB with an employee of Bundesliga competitor BVB.

As the Munich “tz” learned, nutritionist Melf Carstensen from Borussia Dortmund moved to FC Bayern. The 38-year-old was on board the aircraft on Tuesday, with which the Tross of the German record champion traveled towards Florida.

At BVB, Carstensen is actually under contract until the end of the month. Apparently the two clubs agreed on an early change.

With Carstensen in Staff, FC Bayern wants to position itself even more professional when it comes to nutrition. With sports director Max Eberl, the ecotrophologist already worked together at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he was initially responsible for the U23 team and then worked in the youth performance center. In 2016 Carstensen then moved to the Gladbach professionals before moving to BVB with head coach Marco Rose in 2021.

At the Dortmund Borussia, Melf Carstensen only rose to the “Head of Nutrition” last year.

FC Bayern grabs “Miraculix”

On the Lower Rhine, the nickname “Miraculix” – based on the comic series Asterix and Obelix – was once given him, because he relies on special beverage mixtures, which allows the athletes to absorb important carbohydrates and proteins.

Numerous international players such as Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah or Konrad Laimer were not on the plane on Tuesday. After the international game phase, they should meet during the week. On June 17, FC Bayern played its first group game in Cincinnati (against Auckland City, 6:00 p.m. CEST).

In the other group games, the Munich players meet Boca Juniors (June 21) and Benfica Lisbon (June 24).
