Belgium and fourteen other EU countries may be higher budget deficit for defense

The European Commission has given fifteen EU member states, including Belgium, permission to allow their budget deficit to spend more on defense. Sixteen Member States had submitted an application to use this so -called national escape clause. That sixteenth application, from Germany, is still being processed, said a spokesperson for the European Commission on Tuesday.
