According to the statement, the artist suffered from the Lung disease COPD and struggled with other “underlying health problems.”
Stone was particularly known as foreman of the American funk tire Sly and the Family Stone. The band caused a furore with their psychedelic funk music in the late 60s and early 70s.
The group scored hits like Dance to the Music,, ” Family Affair and Everyday People. Sly and the Family Stone joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
Sly Stone was struggling with drug problems
The artist born as Sylvester Stewart was struggling with drug problems for a long time. Partly due to his drug use, his band fell apart. Even in later years he still had problems with drugs. He was arrested several times in connection with cocaine use and attempts to kick off whitening.
Stone had a son, Sylvester, with actress and model Kathy Silva. He also had two daughters, of which he got one with his bandmate Cynthia Robinson.
