Bob Hanning started his commitment to the Füchsen Berlin 20 years ago and started as managing director at the club from Reinickendorf. Last Sunday Hanning was finally the top official at the capital club at the summit of his work after the Foxes Berlin had made it clear their first German handball championship. The club boss itself was then emotionally completely dissolved.
In 2005, Bob Hanning was installed as managing director at the second division team at the time. With its personnel planning and sponsorship policy, the club from Berlin quickly managed to promote the HBL.
Internationally, the foxes have already celebrated great success, especially in the 2010s, such as the triumphs at the Super Globe 2015 and 2016. In the HBL, the strongest handball league in the world, the club has so far always had to take place behind the great competition for SC Magdeburg, THW Kiel or SG Flensburg-Handewitt.
Until last Sunday! The team of success coach Jaron Siewert finally made the first German championship perfect thanks to a 38:33 away win at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
“If I am honest, I haven’t realized it yet, it will still need a little,” said Bob Hanning in a video contribution on his Instagram channel after the final whistle.
Hanning: “Game felt totally shitty”
Above all, the dramaturgy of the last match day made it clear to the 57-year-old, after all, the Berliners were initially behind up to four goals at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen until the 41st minute.
“The game felt totally shitty. That was 60 minutes op of white teeth without anesthesia. We did not manage to get a goalkeeper performance on the floor and had no access to the defense,” said the long-time Foxes maker.
Only the clear increase in performance in the second round, which was won with 21:13, led to the long -awaited first championship shell for the foxes on Sunday afternoon.
“You have this tension for 30 minutes, I do not want to give it afraid. The second half was ‘love pure’ and the back on what we can and what we stand for. The team has solved great and of course I am overjoyed. But it has not arrived at the moment,” added Bob Hanning, who started the big handball party together with the players and other officials.
