“No football club”

The Dutch coaching legend Louis van Gaal sharply criticized the leadership of his ex-club Manchester United after the worst premier League season in club history. The traditional English association has been driven too much by the commercial success and continues to remove what it once was. Above all, Van Gaal is the transfer policy and hierarchy in terms of squad planning.
For Manchester, the past season was the worst of the club history with 18 defeats and 15th place. As a result, and due to the final defeat in the Europa League, the Red Devils did not take the European competition for the first time since the 2014/15 season. “It is still a commercial cub and no football club. I’ve already said that-and that is always difficult,” said 73-year-old van Gaal in a “Sky Sports” interview.
In particular, Van Gaal criticized the transfer policy as well as the fact that the coaches are not in charge of United, but the owners. “If the coach does not decide which player should come, it is very difficult. It should be exactly the same, because then you can release the coach if he does not achieve any results. But if other people buy the players, you have a problem,” said the former BondScoach, who won the FA Cup with the Red Devils 2016.
Van Gaal: Take example at Liverpool FC
Van Gaal had already criticized Manchester United’s transfer activities during his term from 2014 to 2016. At that time he wanted to rejuvenate the team and have certain players. “I didn’t get a single one,” said Van Gaal 2020 at “Voetbal International”.
In order to be successful again, United should take an example of the archrival FC Liverpool. At Jürgen Klopp’s ex-club, his successor Arne Slot, who won the championship title in his first season, made significantly more say in transfer decisions. “At Liverpool, he is the man who says to his technical manager: ‘You have to buy this player’. You have to pay attention to that,” said FC Bayern Munich master coach.
