In December, West Ham’s striker Mikhail Antonio a serious car accident and almost died. Now he has shared a video that shows how he fights back.
Half a year ago, Premier League striker Mikhail Antonio had a serious car accident. His sports car was completely destroyed. His trainer spoke of a miracle and the West Ham Star himself later told the BBC: “I almost died.”
Two months ago he told the English “Guardian”: “It is the worst injury I have ever had, but since I have been two to three months further, when I should be, I know that I will play again.” Now Antonio posted a video on Instagram that impressively shows his hard work back into professional football.
In the short sequences you can only see antion -destroyed car and then the footballer himself in the hospital and in the next sequence on crutches. The offensive player summarized his entire comeback process in the reel on Instagram. From the first failure steps that were possible again after his operation, towards the first stabilization exercises in the gym.
In the end, Antonio can be seen how he does exercises with and without a ball. He can already sprint over the lawn and his leg looks muscular and strengthened. He wrote: “Faith will overcome all challenges.”
Many fans and teammates commented under the post. For example, West Ham’s defender Vladimír Coufal, whose contract ends in July: “Respect, brother.” Midfielder Tomáš Souček commented on the post with three red hearts. Sébastien Haller, who is loan from Dortmund to Utrecht, also commented on a red heart.
