Apple gives a view of upcoming functions for its devices at the WWDC developer conference on Monday (from 7 p.m. CEST).
According to information from the Bloomberg financial service, an optical redesign of the operating systems for iPhones, iPad tablets and Mac computers is expected.
At his developer conference, competitor Google focused on functions with artificial intelligence a few weeks ago. Apple had announced a greatly improved version of the Siri assistance software in the WWDC 2024, but this was delayed. Apple’s plan is that the future Siri should be particularly helpful for users because the software has access to personal information from the user and can be active across different apps.
Apple summarizes its AI offers under the name “Apple Intelligence”. So far, the software has been able to re -formulate and summarize texts and create new emoji from descriptions of the users.
Dresden student wins at Apple’s developer competition
A student from Dresden is one of the winners of a programming competition from Apple with an app that makes experiences of people with dementia relate. The core of the use of Hendrik Schülke with the name “Dementi” is a memory game with 16 pictures. However, there is a catch: the pictures in the background are changing all three trains. So it can happen that instead of the safe solution you suddenly turn the wrong picture. The app is said to be tangible how demented people have to struggle with the perception of reality.
Schülke was inspired by his grandmother’s dementia disease to develop the app. His idea is that users should be surprised by the problems in solving the memory puzzle. “You think you are the problem,” Schülke describes the emotional situation. “It only works once”. He could imagine that, for example, children could better understand through the app what difficulties experience their relatives with dementia in everyday life. The app should also provide information about dementia.
The 25-year-old Dresdener is a master student of media informatics. He wrote the applications he wants to bring to the App Store during a semester abroad in Vietnam. Apple boss Tim Cook praised the competition of the competitive winners before the beginning of the developer conference WWDC, Schülke’s app helps people to understand each other better and build empathy.
