The train staff of the Dutch Railways will strike again next Tuesday. There will then be no trains throughout the country. Last week the trade unions already announced that they were setting up in the West region, which also includes a large part of West Brabant. On Sunday, the North-West region was added, which includes the entire Randstad.

“Almost all trains run through this area,” the Dutch Railways reports in a statement. This means we cannot offer a reliable timetable. The strike area has become too large ‘.

Stuck collective agreement calls
The strikes are the result of stalled collective agreements. The unions are not pleased with the wage increase offered and also want better working conditions.

The FNV thinks the wage increase of 2.55 percent on an annual basis is too low in view of inflation. In 2022, NS employees were given more than 9 percent and in the previous CLA, which ended on 1 March, the unions and NS agreed a wage increase of 6.6 percent on average.

Last Friday, almost the entire train traffic in the country also stopped due to a strike of train staff. It started at four in the morning and lasted four o’clock until Saturday morning.

This is how it looked at the stations in our province on Friday:
