Sean’s alter ego is Pete, who is married to Ellie. In the same way as Sean and his Beth-In the real life, Pete and Ellie adopted siblings that ended up in child welfare. First there are no children and then there are suddenly three of them. Life change is huge.

In 2012, Sean and Beth first became foster parents for children aged 6, 3 and 1, who they later adopted. At first, the married couple were about to add another sibling couple to their family, but in the end it did not succeed. The eldest of the children, the teenage girl, changed her mind that the biological mother would still return.
Still, the girl with her younger siblings came to mind to Sean to the extent that in the movie Pete and Ellien, a teenager, 15-year-old Lizzie, moves. Juan is 10 and Lita 6. The names of Sean’s real children are Johnny, Charlene and Josh.

Instant Family Starts as Pete and Ellie start considering adoption. Pete wouldn’t want to be an old father, so adopting an older child would make sense. By the way, Sean really thought. Like Sean and Beth, Pete and Ellie participate in a substitute parenting course, during which it becomes clear that not everyone shares the same world of values or a sense of humor. The course is followed by the Adoption Fair, which is designed to present children in care – like Lizzie, Juan and Lita.
