From Matcha to Moroccan breakfast: a new lunchroom opens here

Zoetermeerder Denzel Marten (24) always drove with his friends to Rotterdam or The Hague for a typical Moroccan breakfast. He thought how nice it would be if this could just be in his own city. But where? Then open your own catering business! Soon you can find him in his new Lunchroom Bread & Bennie’s in the Dorpsstraat.

Not only Denzel, but also his girlfriend Giara Asraf (23) regularly drives to other cities with her friends for a good matcha. When Denzel shared his plans with her, she registered for a Matcha course. “Now I can make them myself. My five favorites with different types of milk, such as Matcha Strawberry, will soon be on the menu.”

Simple and tasty

Fresh bread, three fried eggs, La Vache Qui rideolives, meat products, some drops of Moroccan olive oil and enjoy. The water is already running out of the mouth with the thought that he will soon be able to prepare that in his new lunchroom for his guests. “I like simple but very good food. Guests of all ages can come to me for sandwiches grill sausage, ball or carpaccio, nice on a white sandwich. And everything is halal.”

Large cleaning

The inside of the new lunchroom is almost ready. The kitchen is almost furnished, the new coffee machine is ready and cozy benches and tables are still in the plastic. The logo of the case shows a plant wall in neon letters. “I actually wanted to open earlier,” says Denzel. “But the renovation and all the preparations for starting a business lasted longer. In addition, we had to clean a lot in the beginning. The previous tenant had a grooming salon here, so we had to fish the dog hair everywhere.”

Small terrace

Denzel will open his breakfast and lunch shop Bread & Bennie’s on Saturday 14 June. “In the beginning I want to be open all week. On Monday there are many things in the Dorpsstraat. Then people can come and have lunch here.”

Outside there will be a small terrace with a few tables and Denzel is expanding his range. “I want to expand the range of cakes with four or five types of cheesecake. Nice with coffee, tea or matcha. I am in the nicest square in Zoetermeer and am really looking forward to it.”
