This way it remains restless in the coalition even after the departure of the PVV. VVD, NSC and BBB look at each other with suspicion and make claims behind the scenes on their favorite posts. Asylum in particular is wanted, by all three parties. With the asylum laws that are already in the Chamber, there is a success to be achieved if it is possible to guide them through the parliament before the elections.
The parties will have to negotiate it on Thursday. The Deputy Prime Ministers and party leaders of VVD, NSC and BBB join Prime Minister Schoof. A total of nine posts were released after the departure of the PVV, five ministers and four state secretaries. The expectation is not that nine new people will come back.
VVD, NSC and BBB Azen on asylum portfolio Minister Faber: This is how Post is ultimately forgiven
The portfolios of some State Secretaries can probably be observed by another minister at the same ministry. But at least for the Ministers of Health, Asylum and Migration, Economic Affairs and Infrastructure & Water Management, new people are expected. The portfolio at Foreign Trade & Development Aid may be permanently taken over by Minister Veldkamp (Foreign Affairs)
Everyone wants asylum
But a strong battle is expected for the remaining posts. What is now clear: everyone wants asylum. As a reason for this, a source of The Hague contributes that the new asylum minister can soon determine what will be priority until the new elections. And in that respect, VVD, NSC and BBB De Noses are not all in the same direction.
NSC already explained on Wednesday that withdrawing the Spreading Act for that party has absolutely no priority. In fact, as far as group chairman Nicolien van Vroonhoven is concerned, the compulsion law even proudly remains. VVD and BBB are otherwise in the competition.
The Ministry of Infrastructure is seen as a danger by BBB people. The new minister on that department must consider the water quality and perhaps take unpopular measures for farmers from that point of view.
Thursday’s conversation is in principle only about the distribution of the posts among parties. If it is clear, they can put people forward to become a minister. But those names are no longer expected this week.
