The new album of the Dropkick Murphys is entitled “For the People” and will be published digitally on July 4th. The physical version follows on October 10th and contains five bonus tracks. The first single “Who’ll stood with us?” including music video, is already available from June 4th.

The band around Ken Casey and Jeff Darosa made a name for themselves on the US east coast at the end of the 1990s. In 2004 the international breakthrough achieved the song “Tessie”. Since then, the Dropkick Murphys regularly released albums, and “for the people” is the thirteenth studio album in their career.

A political statement

It is no coincidence that the new album appears on the United States Independence Day: the band wants to specifically draw attention to social grievances in the United States. “We were always the same message and never afraid to say our opinion,” said front man Ken Casey. “But now I think primarily of the future of my children – and the next generation. This can mean everything: to speak out against injustices or simply ensure that one tells the people who are close to you how important they are.”

Many songs would act from the problems with which normal people have to fight. Casey emphasizes: “I do not want to be on the side of those who choose cruelty, reject free school lens, vote against workers’ rights and provide group interests about the good of children.”

Album cover with symbolic power

According to the Dropkick Murphys, the cover is deliberately part of the political dimension of the album. “The black rose is traditionally associated with death, loss, grief and pain. At the same time, it also stands for change, renewal, rebirth and new beginnings. Black roses also symbolize courage, self -confidence, strength and strength.”
