Ronald Maul becomes the new chairman of the board at the third division soccer Hansa Rostock. The 52-year-old succeeded Jürgen Wehlend on July 1, who had been dropped after only 14 months after the missed second division return. This was announced on Tuesday.

Maul was active as a player for Hansa from 2001 to 2006. In leading positions, the two -time national player worked at SV Meppen, Red Weiss Ahlen and VfL Osnabrück.

“The new occupation is an important step to bring even more football skills and, above all, the values ​​for which our club stands,” said Sebastian Eggert. “Ronald Maul has extensive experience from professional football – both on the square and in various management positions. In the future, the new chairman of the board will form the management team with Michael Meier (youngsters/clubs) and Roman Velke (finance/organization). Günter Fett moves into the expanded management group.

Rostock had missed the promotion as fifth in the table in the past season. Most recently, the former Bundesliga club played second -class in the 2023/14 season.
