A man injured two people on Saturday with a hood knife on a terrace at a café on Karperlaan in Helmond. According to the owner of the cafe, her 14-year-old son on the terrace was scolded by a man. The moment a man on the terrace asked why he did that, the two were fighting each other. A 38-year-old man has been arrested.
The terrace was full on Saturday at the start of the evening with about thirty guests. “I was topping up with my husband behind the bar so we didn’t see it ourselves,” says the owner of the cafe, she would rather not be called by name.
“I later heard that my 14 -year -old son was scolded by a man. When another guest on the terrace asked why he did, he did not get an answer, but immediately slapped. The other man struck,” she says.
“He was back within five minutes with a half -meter cutting knife.”
The man who handed out the first blow then ran away according to the owner. “He was back within five minutes with a half -meter cap knife and stuck the man who previously asked him a little early in his chest. Another man was injured in his ear,” she says.
The man who was stabbed in his chest was rushed to the hospital. The man who was injured in his ear could be treated on the spot. After the stabbing, a number of people went after the perpetrator. The man was eventually arrested by the police.
“Many guests have seen it happen.”
“My son immediately went inside after the swearing and didn’t see anything, but many guests have seen it happen. It is not nice that something like that happens,” says the owner. She is still recovering from the shock.
The café is located at a small shopping center in a residential area. The police investigate what exactly happened and ask witnesses and people with camera images to report.
