National coach Julian Nagelsmann has once again confirmed that he specifically advised Florian Wirtz on his future decision – but not to switch to a specific club.

“I don’t measure myself to know what is good or bad,” said Nagelsmann about Wirtz ‘difficult choice between Liverpool FC and FC Bayern, which is said to have been in favor of the English master.

“Against Bavaria,” emphasized the former Munich coach Nagelsmann, “nothing speaks.” But he does not advise a player who, like Wirtz, ask him about his view of things, to a specific team. “In the end, I always try to reproduce my opinion from a sporting point of view what I think is right – but without talking about individual clubs.”

How was that specifically at Wirtz? “What I think is important is that he plays and plays a similar role as he does in Leverkusen,” said Nagelsmann, “Only then can he develop. That he is one of the best players in the world. But we are still young. But he is still young, needs sustainability in his development and a club where he has an important sporting role – and at some point gets a role as a leader.”

Stuttgart-Senicrecht starter Woltemade? “Hatter he has”

Another DFB-Prof that is currently on everyone’s lips is Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart. At the DFB Cup final, Julian Nagelsmann and Rudi Völler could have observed up close “what technical skills he has and with what elegance he can dribble opponents,” enthused the DFB sports director from the Stuttgart shooting star. In addition, this “force and the understanding of the game”, added Völler and summed up: “This is great.”

Don’t miss! If the DFB team plays in the small final of the Nations League, RTL broadcasts the game on June 8th live on free TV and in the stream to RTL+! The final runs live on free TV at RTL and RTL+regardless of German performance. The game for third place in Stuttgart will kick off at 3 p.m., the final will take place at 9:00 p.m. in the Munich Allianz Arena.

However: “Despite his size in the header game,” said the former world -class striker Völler, “but these are things that can certainly be learned and train. If he adds a few percent, he has a great career in front of him.”

The 23-year-old was “not a classic center forward a year or two ago,” Völler analyzed, “but played around it. But he developed enormously.” And should therefore also play at the U21 European Championship after his possible debut at the national team in the Nations League final.

Nagelsmann was “difficult” with Woltemade nomination

Nagelsmann reported that he had “difficult” with Woltemades for the first time because he didn’t just want to outdo U21 coach Antonio di Salvo. But because of the failures of Kai Havertz and Tim Kleindienst, the Stuttgart fits “very well into the profile” that he was looking for.

The national coach is certain that Woltemade “takes something with him that can help him” in the DFB selection, and wants to pay attention to “how he integrates and he acts on the training ground”. Whether Woltemade could debut in the semifinals against Portugal on Wednesday (9:00 p.m./ZDF and DAZN)? “Of course he has a chance, otherwise he would not be here.” Woltemade has long convinced the expert Völler.
