Not only the fans of Normal, but also the band members themselves enjoyed it to the full last night. The anniversary concert of the rock band in Lochem was visited by around 25,000 partygoers. And for the time being it leaves it Høken Drummer Fokke de Jong no longer loose. “This feels like coming home.”

If you think normally, the thoughts soon go to frontman Bennie Jolink. And the biggest hits: Door and Loud. But don’t forget Fokke de Jong, the drummer from Zuidlaren who was inextricably linked to the band for 24 years. De Jong adds another series of concerts.

After last night’s exuberant concert, De Jong just rubs sleep from his eyes. His adrenaline level has dropped, but he is still determined for a while. “I’m going to play in Pesse.”

That announcement may come out of the sky. The intention was that De Jong would only play in Lochem. The Kick, Being together and the overwhelming reactions have changed his mind. “Yes, so I’m in the party tent in Pesse tomorrow. And on the Zwarte Cross I am also there,” De Jong announces.

For those who write in the agenda: during the upcoming concerts in Siddeburen (30 August) and Dalfsen (September 13) De Jong is also on Bühne.

For example, De Jong almost makes a full -fledged re -entry into the farmer’s rock formation. Although he does not play on his own drum. Timo Kelder, the regular normal drummer, just remains part of the band. Someone with whom De Jong can read and write. “In the past, Timo always studied me. We have good feeling with each other’s drum work. It almost goes between us.”

The concert in Lochem was a striking example. They brought them during the intro of Door A special tribute, addressed to their predecessor and founder Jan Manschot.

De Jong is hardly talking about it. After the Lochem Knalfeest, in honor of the 50-year anniversary, he has caught the rhythm of the past. “The audience went crazy,” he looks back. “It was really cool. Old boys currant bread. And not at all uncomfortable.”
