Rod Stewart has officially announced that Ronnie Wood – his former bandmate at the Faces – will accompany him at the Glastonbury Festival 2025. The singer takes over the traditional “Legends Slot” on Sunday and thus becomes the highlight of the day. In addition to him, the 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo are among the main acts of the year.
Stewart & Wood: friendship, music history and reunion plans
In a podcast with Peter Crouch, Stewart said that he was talking regularly to Ronnie Wood. The Rolling-Stones guitarist was not only a colleague at the Faces, but also part of The Jeff Beck Group-a musical connection that had existed for decades.
Return to Glastonbury: The history of those involved
Rod Stewart was already on the festival stage in 2002. Ronnie Wood followed the Rolling Stones eleven years later. Some time ago, Stewart, Wood and Drummer Kenney Jones had announced that they are working on new material. According to Jones, about eleven songs were recorded – a mixture of new titles and long recordings.
Publication for 2026
However, the musicians are heavily clamped. Tours of the Stones and Stewart’s solo projects postpone the release to next year. The creative work is done in stages, says Jones.
An Instagram photo of Stewart with Wood and Jones had already provided rumors last year. Stewart’s daughter Ruby commented on the picture with the words: “Glasto Reunion?” – and thus fueled speculation about reunification at the festival.
As early as 2020, the trio surprised with a joint appearance at the Brit Awards when they performed “Stay with me” live. A year later, Wood confirmed that they had taken new recordings in his house in London.
Stewart: “15 very strong songs”
Rod Stewart later said that they had completed a total of 15 songs – both old, unpublished material and new pieces. He is highly motivated and actively write on new texts.
Rod Stewart describes the Glastonbury appearance as a “great honor”, but also pointed out at the expense: he has to invest around $ 300,000 in order to let his band fly in from the USA. Nevertheless, the festival was worth the price: “Even for a million I would do it,” said the singer.
The organizers gradually publish line-ups for the individual areas such as The Park, Woodsies or Greenpeace. An updated site plan of the festival site was recently presented – with new zones and paths.
Faces reunion is getting closer
With Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, two musicians are available to revive the musical legacy of the Faces. If Kenney Jones joined, the band would be complete – and the Glastonbury 2025 a historical event.
