Werder Bremen has apparently almost regulated the successor to the head coach Ole Werner, fired on Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday, Horst Steffen from Fast Bundesliga promoted SV Elversberg is said to have given the green-whites, reports “Bild”. Accordingly, Werder Bremen canceled his replacement candidate Lukas Kwasniok (most recently SC Paderborn).
Further discussions should be necessary in the Steffen Causa. If these run in accordance with the wish, the 56-year-old could be presented in Bremen on Thursday, it is said.
Steffen’s contract in Elversberg is dated until June 30, 2026. However, he should be allowed to leave the small club from Saarland against the payment of a transfer in the six -figure area.
The club -close portal “Deichstube” wrote that Steffen is considered the “absolute desired solution” by Werder.
So Werder Bremen separated from Ole Werner
The Bremeners had separated from Werner because negotiations over a contract extension had recently failed beyond the coming season.
“We very much regret Ole’s decision because we could have imagined long -term cooperation with him. However, since we need continuity and clarity for the future in the position of head coach, we decided to free Ole. This decision was also unanimously supported by the supervisory board,” said Managing Director Clemens Fritz.
The ex-professional added: “We wanted to prevent from the beginning to go into the season with a head coach who begins his last year of contract. Oles decision not to extend his contract was reason for us to make this decision now, since it is enormously difficult to advance personnel planning if it is not clear who is head coach next year.”
“From the club perspective, I can understand that Werder has now decided to take this step,” said Werner.
