The city council of Midden-Drenthe agrees with the renovation of the town hall in Beilen. The building will soon have to accommodate both the municipal organization and the library and welfare work.

“I am happy that the council has made this decision,, ““Says alderman Jan Schipper (CDA).” We can now continue preparing a building that fits with what we need to help residents well. It’s not about appearance, but about a place that works. The installations are outdated, and doing nothing is not an option. “

According to the municipality, renovation is needed to maintain the services to residents. The current accommodation has outdated installations and IT systems and no longer meets the legal requirements on a number of points.

Further details about the renewed town hall still have to be worked out. The city council later makes a decision about the final design.

Whether or not renovating the town hall is a large point of discussion within the city council. Earlier this year it even led to a coalition break after alderman Rico Schans from Municipal Interests Bbbondenmate boarded. Under the leadership of Sandra Korthuis, the relationships were restored and a new coalition took place.
