The Giro d’Italia starts the all -deciding third week. Four heavy mountain stages are on the program. With the ride to Sestriere on the penultimate day over the frightening Colle Delle Finestre, 18.5 kilometers at 9.2 percent with the last eight kilometers that is unpaved. “It could well be that the Giro will only be decided there,” our columnist Erik Breukink expects. “Until now we have not had debilitating mountain stages. The current general classification is mainly the result of the gravel ride, the time trials and various falls.”
