The clothing branchist AWG is further expanding its location network in Germany and is already planning its 250th store

The company from Kögen, near Stuttgart, has just opened new stores in Franconian Kürnach and Heidenau near Dresden, as AWG announced in the middle of the month, three more areas should open their doors. With locations in Haßloch, Brühl and Ottobrunn, the retailer extends its branch network to 249 stores.

“Our core business is inpatient trade as part of our local supply concept,” said AWG CEO Michael Hövelmann. “We have reorganized the company and have been economically successful for years.”

The local catering concept relied on a 360-degree omnel strategy, says Hövelmann. For the physical locations, the company focuses on one -story areas in retail market centers between 800 and 1,000 square meters of retail space and 100 square meters of ancillary area. These locations should be a frequented food retail trade in the neighborhood and ideally supplemented by shoe retail, pharmacy, drugstore and gastronomy.

2026: Opening of the 250th branch

Even after the current openings, the company plans to continue driving its expansion strategy and is looking for additional locations in its strategic expansion area. AWG is currently expanding particularly in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Berlin, Hesse, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

“We are pleased that we can open our 250th branch in 2026; we have secured other attractive locations for these and other branches,” continued the AWG CEO. “For our landlords, AWG is a reliable tenant who brings additional frequencies to the locations.”

AWG offers a range of own and external brands such as only, Cecil, Tom Tailor, Adidas and Schiesser. There are also workwear products, toys, home accessories and home textiles.
