In Amsterdam, the yellow cucumber was the only one who mattered for a long time, but it was blown away when the green version came from England. It was easier to produce, had fewer diseases and was also cheaper. Slowly the cucumber disappeared and now you have to look very, very well to get an ‘Amsterdam long yellow’.
Seeds from Wageningen
Robin van Asteren decided to bring the yellow cucumber back with his team. Soon they will grow in the world vegetable gardens in Osdorp. From the seed bank of the University of Wageningen they received sixty seeds from three different types of yellow cucumber.
