Arsenal’s FC has stopped FC Barcelona’s winning streak in the Women’s Champions League. The English women struck the favorite Barca in the final on Saturday.
The redeeming goal for the English women scored the Swede Stina Blackstenius (75th) after passing by Mead. An own goal of the Spaniards in the first phase of the game was rightly revoked. Arsenal celebrates the second title win after 2006/07.
A lot of commitment to the English women
Arsenal invested a lot of energy in the first phase of the game and thus prevents the dreaded playback of the Catalans. At the same time, the English women developed a top -class chance: Frida Maanum had fit sharply from the right in front of goal, Paredes unhappily steered the ball into the own goal with a long leg (22nd). But the goal did not count, the Londoner had stood out in the way.

Nevertheless, Barca freely freed himself and built up great pressure with quick and safe play. Top goalkeeper Claudia Pina almost scored the 1-0 with a long -distance shot that crashed into the crossbar (49.). Overall, Pina played no role in the final and was taken off after a good hour.
Arsenal with great will
The FC Arsenal players fought sacrificed, but were increasingly struggling with dwindling forces. Nevertheless, they managed to interrupt the sometimes extremely safe ball relays and prevent dangerous degrees from the Spaniards.
Russo failed again on Cata Coll, but then Blackstenius redeemed the women of FC Arsenal. The English stayed in the campaign after their own corner kick and Beth Mead put the teammate in position with a surprising plug -in pass.
