Today, YLE’s radio and podcast listeners received nasty news. Svenska Ylen Eftersnackprogram will stop.

Magnus Londen, the presenter-journalist, says it apparently moved in a episode on May 23. His program, which has been hosting for almost twenty years, ends on Midsummer Eve.

Jeanette Björkqvist, the presenter of the program, commented in the episode how much sadness involves the decision. Such a decision did not want the podcast presenters themselves.

He also reported Hufvudstadsbladet (HBL).

HBL says that negotiations on the continuation of the program have been held since last November. According to the newspaper, Londen and Björkqvist were offered the opportunity to continue as entrepreneurs.

However, according to Londen, the solution would have meant a significant salary reduction.

– Yle wanted us to write articles. At the same time, the program itself seemed to be completely overlooked. Despite several meetings and the fact that we offered more social content we think we already have, we could not find a solution. We also agreed to lower our salary by almost 20 percent, Londen told HBL.

Eftersnackprogram has been done since 2005, almost every Friday. In Londen’s opinion, the decision to stop is both stupid and short -sighted. He thinks that Yle makes a big mistake.

– Yle says he is happy with the content and the number of listeners, but speaks vaguely about “changed audience needs”. It would be almost easier if they said bluntly that time was over that it was time to quit. The whole thing seems paradoxical when they praise the program and its popularity and then stop it, Londen downloads to the magazine.

Svenska YLE Delivery Manager Charlotte Sundström confirm In allthat the decision to end the program is based on the austerity measures required by the Finnish Broadcasting Company.

“The reason is the austerity measures that also affect our freelance money,” Sundström comments.

So far it is unclear how Eftersnack The gap left is filled.

“It’s a popular program among listeners, and it is a shame that we lose it,” says Sundström.
