Juan Pablo Raba, 48, who is familiar with Netflix’s super-popular Narcos series, tells his direct opinion of Finland and the Finns.
A colombian star carrier is fluffy in the Helsinki office milieu.
Finns remember Juan Pablo Raban48, Netflix’s recommendation Narcos from the series and Ash story-Theelo debt that spun on Sub in the mid-2000s. However, the man is not here for either reason.
No, he is investigating why Finns have been selected eight times in a row as the happiest country in the world. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs sent him to Oulu, perhaps because Finland’s happiness has nested there.
“We also have to think about what happiness really means,” Juan Pablo Raba tells Iltalehti.
– My first impression is that Finland is a systematic, clean and democratic country. Your culture revolves around trust, and it is reflected in education, politics and everything.
A school visit to Oulu sums up the core of Finnishness.
– Children are trusted. I am used to the education system where children are constantly monitored. It was beautiful to see how the children work independently. There are woodwork in the classrooms and there are sawmills and Pori, the United States would never have a saw in the class.

He says he has heard of two cases of school violence in Pirkkala and Hämeenlinna, which has been widely reported. Both were associated with blade weapons.
– School violence is scary. I believe that you do something about it. You influence people who implement research and plans. You have a difficult situation in geopolitically, but you can still live in freedom and trust, he praises.
The Colombian star has moved around the world after work. He and his family lived in Los Angeles for five years until the family’s Pacific Palisades house was destroyed in California wildfires.
The work took them to Bogotáan, the capital of Colombia.
– There people are taught that you cannot even trust your own shadow or your father. We are raised so. We are at the forefront of corruption, while Finland is one of the world’s least corrupt countries. It is one kind of happiness indicator to be able to trust the power of his or her country, he says.

Experiences in Finland
In Finland, Juan Pablo Raba has entered the sauna, cold water and enjoy the culinary of the northern culmination. He is waiting for a trip to the beer with ordinary locals.
Raba looks straight into the eyes and says he wants to experience genuine Finnishness.
One Finnish food has already impressed him.
– I love reindeer. I ate a meal with reindeer minced meat, mashed potatoes, berries and pickles. It was so good. Lord God!
– Your vegetables are so good and the salmon is delicious. The Nordic diet has a natural feel. I taste as much as I can, he promises.
It is not such a tough drink buddy that Finlandia vodka would make Finlandia. Instead, he praises good Finnish beer yesterday.
When the interview mentions the tentacle, he is interested.
– What is it?
After hearing a grapefruit -flavored alcoholic beverage, Raba is in flames and promises to test it.
Raba, who played in internationally successful films and TV series, has been able to move in Finland quite unidentified. He says he encountered the Latin club in Oulu, who screamed him when he noticed. It’s a Latin way, he explains. The culture is immediately on the neck and the best friends.
Instead, Finns have been polite.
– You respect the personal space of others, he says.
Juan Pablo Raba remembers Iltalehti his middle-aged crisis, which completely surprised him. Maarit Pohjanpalo
The crisis stopped
During his visit to Finland, Juan Pablo Raba records for several episodes of his popular Hombres Si Iloran podcast, which ends up being guests, including Esko Eerikäinenas well as Yucca and Chachi Hildén.
The podcast discusses mental health problems. The subject is personal for the actor.
-The middle-aged crisis struck me when my daughter was born. I was 42 at the time I questioned my life and what kind of man I am. I started to fall for years and realized that when he was 20, I’m 62. I wondered how I support him in this unstable work, Tähti explains.
Emotions rose in a completely unreal situation.
– I was still in a good step in my career. There was a premiere in Hollywood, I had a wonderful family and healthy kids, I lived in a beautiful place, and suddenly I started to get anxious and scared a lot. I was wondering if it would be easier for others if I didn’t exist anymore, he admits.
– I didn’t want to kill myself, but I went through what the world would look like without me.
Netflix star went to therapy and began to deal with his feelings by talking. According to him, Hollywood can be bad anyway.
– People just don’t talk about it. Let’s resort to medicines, take divorce, look for a younger dear, or buy a sports car. There are many ways to try to solve the middle age crisis. I decided to choose a more difficult road and therefore set up my podcast.
The core message of Raba is that a man is allowed to be masculine, but he still gets to cry and speak.
He has dealt with the pain points of his childhood. Netflix’s Narcos role found a genuine mirror surface that a drug baron Pablo Escobar actually killed his uncle by blasting an airplane bomb.
Raba ended up leaving Colombia for parents’ divorce.
– It was a violent time where Escobar declared the war to the government. Before that, the war was outside the cities, but Escobar brought war to the city. It became a scary situation for everyone. When I moved to Spain, it was just Fiesta, a completely different environment, he updates.
