Olav Kooij won the 12th stage at Giro d’Italia. He won in the mass sprint.

After 172 kilometers between Modena and Viadana with a flat second half of the race, the 23 -year -old Dutch prevailed in the mass sprint ahead of compatriot Casper van Uden and the British Ben Turner. The German sprinter Max Kanter became seventh.

There were only minimal changes in the overall ranking. The 21-year-old Mexican Isaac del Toro runs 33 seconds in front of his UAE teammate Juan Ayuso because he was able to secure two additional bonus customers. Top favorite Primoz Roglic from the Red Bull team is the sixth 1:26 minutes behind del Toro.

The next stage leads to Vicenza

On Friday, the 13th stage runs mainly over flat terrain with 180 kilometers between Rovigo and Vicenza. Finally, the professionals have to cope with an increase in category four.

A total of 3,413.3 kilometers in 21 stages must be mastered on the tour. The Giro ends on June 1st in Rome. In total, the drivers have to cope with 52,500 meters of altitude during the tour, which is 10,000 meters more than in the previous year.
