It was already known that Jule Brand is leaving VfL Wolfsburg. Now it is also official where the 22-year-old is moving: to a top European club.

Jule Brand moves to France to Olympique Lyon. This was announced by the record champions of the Ligue 1 Féminine on Thursday. Previously, speculation had been made for Lyon about a decision by the German international. “Lyon is a big club. I am very happy to be here,” says Brand in a video that the club spread on social media.

Already at the end of January, Brand’s previous club VfL Wolfsburg confirmed that the 22-year-old was leaving the club at the end of the season. Now it is also clear where fire will play in the future. “I can’t wait to start here,” the German international continues in the video. “I want to show what I can. I think it’s great how you work here, what you set for goals here. I would like to win titles with this team.”

Brand had switched from TSG Hoffenheim to the “wolves” in 2022. With the club from Lower Saxony, the midfielder won the DFB Cup in 2023 and 2024. In Lyon, Brand now signed a contract until 2028, switched to the 16-time French champion free of charge. “I look forward to this new experience and to start a new chapter,” she said.

Curious: Although three German players were in the club’s squad in the past season, Brand will be the only German professional in the coming season. Because both national player Sara Däbritz and ex-DFB professional Dzsenifer Marozsán and replacement goalkeeper Laura Benkarth leave Lyon this summer.

However, Lyon has a lot to do for the new season: The club had only stated at the beginning of the week to start in the future under a new name. From 2025/26 the team is called Ol Lyonnes.
