A few days ago, Newey already indicated in his first official interview as an Aston Martin employee. Team boss Andy Cowell explained exactly what his tasks will be in the coming days on Thursday in the official media round.

“He sees how we work on the race weekend – how we optimize the car, play with strategy. His experience and his view of what is going well and what is not going to help us create a task list to get better as a team,” reveals Cowell that Newey should take a closer look at the work of the team on the race weekend.

Does Newey already have an impact on the Formula 1 race in Monaco?

According to Cowell, it is also possible that the engineer is already actively involved in some decisions. “If there is a place at the engineering table,” joked the team manager. “Adrian has seen a large part of the factory company. Now he sees for the first time how things are going on the track. It just helps to connect everything together,” said Cowell.

The engineer himself confirmed that Newey already has an impact on some decisions of the racing team. Although it is his main task in the factory in Silverstone to devote itself to the development of the 26 car. Nevertheless, he also stops with the team from time to time that the current car is supposed to look after and improve. This was now also confirmed by Cowell.

“The conversations for lunch break are not only about his food or his weekend, but also for the current car, the car for 2025, and possible problems.” Nevertheless, the team boss emphasized that Newey’s influence on the AMR25 was minimal. “It is a separate engineering team that works on the 25er car,” said Cowell.
