Giulia Gwinn already suffered two cruciate ligament tears in her career. On her way back to the square, she received prominent support from Uli Hoeneß – as she reveals in her new book.

National player Giulia Gwinn presented her first book in the Munich Literaturhaus – and many prominent guests were there. Among other things, Uli Hoeneß did not miss the opportunity to be part of the premiere of “Write Your Own Story – my way from the football field to the top of the world”.

In addition to the honorary president of FC Bayern, club president Herbert Hainer as well as Gwinn’s parents Gabi and Florian were also sitting in the audience. The 25-year-old presented her work in the elegant black dress and also gave personal insights into her career.

Hoeneß was impressed by the player who has been active for FC Bayern since summer 2019. She was a “wonderful example of the association’s ‘Mia San Mia’,” he enthused.

In her book, Gwinn remembers a special moment in autumn 2022. At that time she had just suffered her second cruciate ligament tear. Hoeneß called her and encouraged her. She did not forget his words: “Whenever you need something – call me personally. I really mean myself. And not about any corners. I am happy to help you.” For Gwinn it was a “very formative moment”.

“An association like FC Bayern has to be there for his players 24 hours,” said Hoeneß and casually gave the example of the former Bayern player Michael Sternkopf, who once even called him at night and asked for help.

Giulia Gwinn won the double this season with FC Bayern. The European Championship in Switzerland is scheduled for them in summer. With her book, she wants to inspire young girls. She wanted to be a role model.
