More and more starters can only get a home for sale thanks to this loan. An extra mortgage, on top of what you can borrow from the bank. And moreover you only have to start repaying after three years. The scheme is more popular than ever.
Budget supplemented everywhere, but not in Stede Broec
Many West Frisian municipalities have therefore supplemented the (almost) empty pot with tons, sometimes even millions of euros. But that does not apply to Stede Broec. The current pot of money, 490,000 euros, is divided among eighteen starters. New money will only become available as soon as the existing loans are repaid.
And that thinks ODS councilor Dudink takes far too long. “It is a good measure and may, in our opinion, get a big boost. The housing market is one of the reasons that I have become politically active, and I am shocked by the differences with other municipalities.”
Shocked by differences with other municipalities
For example, neighboring municipality of Enkhuizen has a budget of 2 million euros, just like the much smaller municipality of Opmeer. “It’s not just about the amounts. In Hoorn the budget is 7%of the total budget, and on average in the region it is 3.5%. With us that is 0.5%, so we are lagging behind enormously.”
