“The young storks will stay here until the beginning of August,” says Ina de Wassch, director of the Zwin Natuur Park. “You can follow their growth and see how they finally fly out. During the walks for the blind and visually impaired, we start feeling a small stork, a ring, a channel and even a storki. This is how we make the experience tangible.”

Yves Meulebrouck, who has been blind for 15 years, shares his experience: “It is now the first time that I have felt a stork chick or feathers. Never before. The feeling does a lot about it.” Lore Casselman, visually impaired, also says: “Through feel plates and the sounds of the clapper I get a picture of the stork. It is difficult, but it works for me.”

With this inclusive approach, the Zwin Natuur Park took a step forward in experience and education for everyone. The birth party was also made extra festive with birth announcements and baptism sugar for the visitors.
