Among so many terribly true things, Machiavelli explained that all the prophets who led armies triumphed, and those who had no armies died in defeat. It does not refer to the defeat of the religion they founded, but that they died in solitude and without having seen in life the victory of the faith they preached.

Even more terrible is another evidence: no religion, be it of armed prophets or the unarmed, achieved what would be the leitmotiv of a religion: to improve the human being making it more generous and willing to ensure the others refusing to hurt or kill for hate, greed or jealousy.

If religion had achieved what justifies it, providing goodness to the human species, wars would not continue to bloody the journey of humanity throughout history. None of the great religions made his faithful best people. Without them, there would be bad and good people in the same proportions as with them.

No religious leader has raised why all religions failed to expand goodness, love, compassion and solidarity. The ideologies that announced “the new man” also failed. Which is logical because ideologies are absolute convictions, such as theistic religions, and seek with their secular dogmas what also seeks religion with its theological dogmas: establish an order, with hierarchies and rules

.Leon XIV began his papacy proclaiming “wars never again”, something that can hardly be achieved, precisely, in that dark side of the human condition that neither religions nor ideologies managed to eradicate increasing the goodness and valuation of the lives of others. To end the current wars and not explode new wars, religions should achieve what they have not been able to: a better human being.

What can claim, and did, is that the fire in the Gaza Strip, where the main victims are the Gazati people and the Israeli hostages, and that it ends the conflict that Russia began by invading Ukraine. Two wars that eclipsan many others, among which the Sudan stands out, among the armed forces commanded by General Abdelfatah al Burhan and the Mercenary Militia Rapid Support force led by Mohamed Dagalo.

Another conflict, even potentially more catastrophic than the Sudanese, came to meet Robert Prevosts as soon as he became Leo XIV: the one they have maintained since their births as Indian and Pakistan independent states.

The new Pope was received by the exchange of bombings between both nuclear powers. Two countries that were born, among other things, for the bad border traces left by the British empire. The border that drew in just five days of work Cyril Radcliffe, in 1947, had enough defects due to ignorance of the area to leave wicks on at different points where new wars would explode, especially in Kashmir, the region with Muslim population that a Hindu marajá made left inside the map of India.

In 1965, that territory was the scene of the Second War between Indians and Pakistani. The third broke out six years later, when Indira Gandhi supported the separatist rebellion in the until then called Eastern Pakistan and, after that victorious conflict for India, became an independent Muslim state: Bangladesh.

In the last year of the 20th century, the fourth war was fought in Kargil, a disputed Himalaya district.

The responsibility for the era of conflicts initiated in 1947 is not only British. The independence leaders, the Indian Jawargharlal Nerhu and the Muslim Mohamad Alí Jinna, did not know how to tame the hatred between the religions that profess their peoples, the Hinduism and Islam, and bet to expand their territories, lodging dangerous religious nationalisms.

To this was added that, Narendra Modi, current leader of India and the Party of Religious Nationalism, eliminated article 370 of the 2019 Constitution, ending autonomy in Jamú and Kashmir.

The hatred between India and Pakistan charged victims in their own leaders. Mahatma Gandhi was killed by a Hindu fundamentalist, while another of the Pakistani independence parents, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was executed by the regime of General Mohamad Zia Ul-Haq, who had overthrown him. His daughter Benazir also, twice Prime Minister, was killed in 2007, when she returned to Karachi of exile. And in India there would be other magnicides linked to political and religious hatreds: Indira Gandhi and later his son, Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

To those internal hatred, India and Pakistan add the one that profess from birth, since they became republics with their respective armies having as the main hypothesis of conflict.

In April, a massacre in the Indian Kashmir began the escalation with which Prevost was found when sitting on the throne of Pedro. Although Islamabad denied relationship with the attack and offered a joint investigation, New Delhi took a drastic measure: he suspended the treaty on the waters of the Indo River signed in 1960, and closed dams of dams cutting the flow to Pakistan, in addition to throwing missile Pakistan

This scale has a major geopolitical framework: North American support to India and China to Pakistan.

India accuses Pakistan of supporting terrorist groups such as Lashkar El Tiba and Jaish E-Mohammed, while Pakistan accuses India of supporting anti-Pakistani terrorists as the Liberation Army of Baluchistan and Tahreek E-Talibán.

The escalation of mutual attacks that began with the April attack and the Sindoor operation with which India responded, received the new Pope.

At that time there were also Houti missiles to Israel and fell into the American missiles launched from the Red Sea, while China increased increasingly threatening aerial and naval exercises for Taiwan and Dimitri Medvedev again threatened Europe with Russian nuclear missiles.

In this way he received the dark side of the human condition to the humanist priest that began his pontificate claiming the end of the wars.
