The Formula 1 marriage between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari is still not a success and love story. RTL expert Günther Steiner warns of patience – but also demands from Hamilton to adapt to Scuderia.
Ferrari has everything you need to get in front of Formula 1, Günther Steiner said before the race in Imola in an exclusive interview in Maranello RTL/NTV and Sport.de. “You just have to be patient.”
The combination of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton “has to give more time”, said the former Haas team boss. “You can’t get to a new team, in a new car, and ride at the front from the start,” Steiner protected the record champion.
After six Grands Prix, Hamilton only took seventh place in the world driver’s world championship, not only drives after the top, but also his Scuderia rival Charles Leclerc.
Most recently, the Briton received criticism in the direction of his racing engineer Ricardo Adami through its research on team radio and sarcasm. “Lewis has to be able to adapt a little more,” said Steiner.
Formula 1: “Vasseur not at Ferrari, to be only team boss”
Similarly had sport.de RTL commentator Christian Danner also expressed. “This rumbling and the sarcastic sayings-you can do that among English mechanics, but not in Italy and not at Ferrari,” clarified the former Formula 1 pilot.
Danner sees “Communication problems in entirety” even after almost five months. Scuderia-Capo Frédéric Vasseur is challenged to “capture Hamilton and say: ‘Be careful, we do this here and then you do it that way.'”
Vasseurs goal is the World Cup, Steiner emphasized. “That’s why he came here. He not only came here to only be team boss. He wants to become world champion, that is his goal.”
