At the end of last year it was still unclear how much time is needed to comply with all rules. The changing security situation in the world requires decisiveness. The Ministry of Defense cannot afford to wait if and when there will be new policy. Buildings and sites must improve faster. This contributes to the deployment of the armed forces.

The preparation of the tender is already starting. Interested construction parties need enough time for that.
A step closer
The Marinier units and the support staff are currently stationed at the Van Braam Houckgeest barracks in Doorn. In Maartensdijk is material stored. These buildings are outdated and poorly maintained. For the Marines, the construction of the new barracks is coming one step closer. This also applies to local residents, the municipalities of Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Apeldoorn and the province of Gelderland.
The Ministry of Defense works in close consultation with these organizations and the Central Government Real Estate Agency at the arrival of the new Marine barracks. The maximum is done to realize the redesign of Kamp Nieuw-Milligen with all involved as quickly as possible.
