Linn Gestblom missed the past biathlon season due to injury. The incumbent relay Olympic champion, who in the meantime thought about a drastic change, fights for her big goal in the summer preparation.
Linn Gestblom (formerly Persson) is currently in Crete with the Swedish biathlon team to prepare for the coming winter on the Greek Mediterranean island.
Last season, the 30-year-old was only the role as a viewer. A shoulder injury prevented missions in the World Cup.
Biathlete thought about changing the shooting arm
Stock now wants to fight back now. “Actually, I can do everything, but it is more about the length of the training sessions. I reduce some units and give my shoulder a little more space to relax if I have made something difficult. Then it is difficult not to do too much if she feels good,” the Scandinavier gave an update to “SVT”.
As Stiedblom reveals, due to her shoulder problems, she even thought about changing her shooting arm from right to left. “If it had been necessary, I would have done it, it was definitely on the table,” said the left -hander.
Olympics 2026 as a big goal
In conversation with the Swedish TV broadcaster, Gestblom mentioned the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (February 6th to 22nd) as their big goal. “To get there and cut it out there. I have great memories of previous Olympic Games in which I took part, so I’m looking forward to being where there are many people,” said the ski hunter.
Gestblom had grabbed the golf medal with the Swedish women’s relay at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Silver jumped out in Pyeongchang silver just four years earlier.
