Angela de Jong threatens with immediate dismissal when her boss DPG Media sets an Eva Jinek ban. “As soon as I am not allowed to do something, I will be gone. Yes, that will not happen to me.”
The acquisition of RTL Nederland by the Belgian publishing company DPG Media, the owner of the AD, among others, is almost round. And that means that the tiger shark of that newspaper, Angela de Jong, will soon be a colleague of the stars of RTL. Problematic, which is of course harmful if Angela writes all kinds of programs from RTL broken.
“I hope nothing!”
What is going to change for Angela? “I especially hope that nothing changes for me personally, because I keep writing what I want, whether they are colleagues or not,” she says in Eva. “But I think it has been an ambition for the company itself to also have a TV channel in the package, so I think you should congratulate my boss.”
And what will the viewer notice? “I don’t think anything. They notice just as much as we are now in the same group as De Volkskrant. Well, that is really a completely different newspaper, so I think they will certainly not notice it in the first few years.”
“Can you still?”
Angela now has career opportunities. Does she find the position of RTL boss Peter van der Vorst not what? “My next step will not be television boss, you don’t have to be afraid of that.”
Would she not want to do anything with the TV? “Not at RTL, but with the NPO itch my hands occasionally.”
Medegast Joost Vullings then: “But can you still go to the NPO then? That is the question.”
Hostess Eva Jinek then: “Yes, can you still sit here?”
Direct dismissal
If Angela’s boss demands that she will only sit in RTL programs, and so she will get an Eva Jinek ban, then she is gone. “As soon as I am not allowed to do something, I will be gone. Yes, that will not happen to me.”
Oops, that will be difficult, Johan Derksen fears. He says in Today Inside: “Then Angela will soon have to suck colleagues from RTL – she hates the commercials – and I don’t know if our Belgian boss appreciates that …”
