Already at the beginning of the month, Nicolas Cage told Nick Cave in an interview that he would be confused almost every day – after all, the last names of the two differ only by a letter. Now Cave also unpacked a mix of confusion that was probably particularly remembered.
Fan of the wrong nic (k)
In his “Red Hand Files newsletter”, Cave repeatedly speaks to his fans, answers questions or tells anecdotes. In his current post, when asked by two fans, he answered what he had to say about Cage’s story. He then told about a meeting in Brazil when he met a man who, like many others, also confused him with Nicolas Cage. This man – Diego – knew that it was Nick Cave, but thought that he was actor like Nicolas Cage and not musicians. “Diego suddenly was totally excited, jumped around on his stool and said that he loved me that he was my biggest fan and so on and so on,” said Cave.
“He looked at me again and again, then his drink, shook his head and said: ‘Nick Cave. Damn Nick Cave.'” The musician asked him whether everything was okay, whereupon Diego broke out and explained that his wife had kicked him out and hate him. Cave continued: “I was drunk, so I hugged him and asked: ‘Why does she hate you?’ He said, ‘She thinks I was stupid.’ “Then the Brazilian probably pointed to Cave and said:” But she loves you damn it again. ” His reason: “‘Peggy Sue Got Married’ is her favorite film. She has seen him a hundred times.”
Nick Cave likes to pretend that he is Nicolas Cage
Apparently Cave didn’t want to unsettle the man and pretended that he was really the actor. It also says: “I said something like: ‘I am a normal person like you. Hollywood is not as great as it is always presented. It can be a cruel place. Sometimes you are lonely and so on. After a while I started to warm up for my topic. John Goodman is a fascinating and complex figure and that it is a real privilege to work with the Coen brothers that are ‘master of their subject’ and all this crap. ”
“Diego is not stupid” – but maybe a little drunk
With this, the Australian Diego seemed to have had a little bit – and he even persuaded himself to write a little news to his wife. So he wrote on a piece of paper: “Dear Ana, Diego is not stupid. He is a good guy. All love, nic cage.”
Although the risk of confusion of the two artists is probably very high, it doesn’t really seem to itchy Nick Cave – on the contrary. He ended his post: “But that doesn’t bother me. I am a fan. Did you see ‘Mandy’? My god. What kind of film!”
