“I’m excited before the weekend”said Felix Brych, the record referee of the Bundesliga, before the last game of his active career on Saturday: “I have invited a lot of people. I know that some people have come up with something. I am pleased that everyone who is important to me will come to this special day.”
The referee department of the German Football Association (DFB) also revealed in the Instagram video with Brych, where the 49-year-old will be on the pitch for the 359th and last time: The Munich will be leading the game between FC Augsburg and Union Berlin (Saturday, from 3:30 p.m. in the audio stream and in live tickets).

“The Bundesliga was amazing. And it was worth blowing everything in”said Brych, who had wished for a game to say goodbye that was “nothing more”: “I only go with good feelings. I will think back to a great time. It was a great job, I had a lot of fun.”
He whistled at two world and European Championships
The doctor of law has been a DFB referee since 1999 and was chosen six times as the referee of the year. He was deployed at two World Championships (2014 and 2018) and two European Championships (2016 and 2021). Brych whistled at the 2012 Olympics, he leads the European League final 2014 and the final in the Champions League 2017.
At the beginning of February, Brych announced his career end in an interview “Welt TV” at the end of the season. Brych recently said he wanted to pass on his experience after the end of the active career. The conversations with the DFB in this regard have not yet been completed.
